Product Spotlight – Modern Masters Oxidizing Paint

Creating a beautiful metallic finish has never looked better, or has been so cost effective, as with the Modern Masters Metal Effect line of oxidizing paints. Instead of taking on the huge project of replacing fixtures, pipes, downspouts, gutters, railings and more with expensive real copper, think about refinishing them with oxidizing copper paint. We recently had a residential painting project that included Modern Masters oxidizing copper paint over their exterior pipes and gutters, we love the finished look!  

This product is a water-based, low VOC formula that contains real metal particles and when exposed to the elements, will naturally tarnish over time. When used with the Modern Masters Patina Aging Solution, the authentic patina effect can be expedited for faster results. It has applications on various surfaces, such as metal, wood, drywall, plaster, and even plastic. It is becoming increasingly popular for interior and exterior fixtures, such as walls, mouldings, trim, lamps, furniture or picture frames. The finish will initially have a flat/matte finish before oxidizing.  

We were excited to be working with this exciting new technology which has so many applications. Just look how it transformed standard gutters and downspouts on one of our latest projects! We will be checking in to track progress of the future patina as it occurs. If a customer or homeowner would like to keep the unoxidized finish for longer, we will be happy to prep and paint another coat of the copper paint to fend off the patina. However, it should be noted that the patina is the expected outcome when using this finish.
